Fluxgate magnetometer with pulsed excitation and sampled detection

The device has a fluxgate magnetometer type sensor (100) with excitation coils (104, 106) and detection coils (108, 110) wound around a magnetic core (102), where the sensor delivers an output signal (S2). A pulse generator (120) emits an excitation signal (S1) in the form of alternate positive and negative pulses (125, 126), into an input of the sensor. A sampling unit (130) samples an output signal of the sensor, and triggers the acquisition of the output signal after the emission of the pulses during excitation pulse duration. An independent claim is also included for a method of measuring a magnetic field by using a device, equipped with a fluxgate magnetometer.
