Provided is a method for deironing natural illite using dielectric-barrier discharge plasma, which has a shorter deironing time than a conventional deironing method using an acid dissolution method, removes iron sulfide and impurities from illite effectively, and is an environment-friendly process. The method for deironing natural illite using dielectric-barrier discharge plasma comprises the steps of: subjecting natural illite to dielectric-barrier discharge, which is a low-temperature plasma process, to modify the inner structure and surface of illite; stirring the plasma-modified illite in 0.01-2M of a weakly acidic solution for about 2-10hours; washing the modified illite with distilled water; and drying the washed illite in the air. The plasma treatment is carried out using a voltage of 50-200V and a quasi-voltage of 1-5KW.
