The device has a direct supply voltage increasing unit for increasing a direct supply voltage of about 12 volt generated by an electrical energy storage unit (6) i.e. battery. An elaborating unit elaborates two alternative out-of-phase signals e.g. alternative pulsed signal, from the increased direct supply voltage. The out-of-phase signals are respectively transmitted to a positive electrode (4) i.e. anode, and to a negative electrode (5) i.e. cathode, of a plasma reactor (1). The plasma reactor comprises an earth electrode (12). An independent claim is also included for a power supply method for a plasma reactor of a motor vehicle.
