A method for synthesizing captured images and a camera or a mobile terminal having a camera which synthesizes captured images using the method are provided to generate and store various image files by synthesizing a background image and an object image while overlapping the background image on the object image. A camera or a mobile terminal having a camera is turned on and a background image stored in a storage unit of the camera or the mobile terminal is selected(S120). A part in specific color in the background image is copied to a captured object image and displayed on a display(S130). A shutter key is inputted to capture the object image and store the captured object image. The background image and the stored object image are synthesized to generate an image file, and the image file is stored.
