A method and an apparatus for providing a route using public transport to a passenger are provided to enhance user convenience by providing tour and accommodation information around a destination as well as an optimal route using public transport to a user. An apparatus for providing a route using public transport to a passenger unit includes a receiver(210), a unified database(220), a router(230), and a display unit(240). The receiver receives source and destination names. The unified database includes a tour information guiding unit, which stores and updates public transport information, public transport connection information, public transport cost information, and public transport time information. The tour information guiding unit manages tour information around the destination. The router obtains usable stop sites between the source and destination and calculates the shortest route from the source to the destination. The display unit displays the stop sites, which are arranged on the shortest route.
