This invention concerns a compound of any of the formulae V, VI or VII CHEM CHEM wherein X in formula V is S or O and R8-R10 are each independently selected from the following: CHEM CHEM HO(CH2)n- HOOC(CH2)n- (HO)2B(CH2)n- (R11O)3Si(CH2)n- CHEM CHEM wherein R11 is C1-10 alkyl and n = 1-10. ??These compounds are suitable for use in electrochromic devices.
