An autopilot system for a helicopter is provided to remove instability of the autopilot system caused by switchover from one control relationship to another control relationship. An autopilot system for a helicopter includes a computer(16), a sensor(12), and a data input member(13). The computer has five connection members(31 to 35). The computer generates a control command as a function of signal and data received from the sensor and the data input member. The computer generates a control signal(UCOLL) to an actuator(14). In order to adjust a tilt axis, the computer transmits a control signal(UTILT) to a servo control system for maintaining a tilt trim, and a pitch attitude. The servo control module provides an initial control command corresponding to a longitudinal coordinate of a point of longitudinal coordinates.
