A flavonoid glycoside compound having tyrosinase inhibitory activity, and derived from edible brown algae, Hizikia fusiformis is provided to inhibit activity of tyrosinase without side effects by using a non-toxic material isolated from the seaweed, so that melanin formation is inhibited and the skin is whitened. The flavonoid glycoside compound having tyrosinase inhibitory activity, represented by the formula(1), is isolated by extracting Hizikia fusiformis with methanol or hot water, and subjecting the extract of Hizikia fusiformis to silica gel column chromatography, TLC(thin layer chromatography) and RP-HPLC(reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography), sequentially.
