A tilting 5 pad journal bearing of a turbine generator for reducing shaft vibration and metal temperature is provided to form the range of the preload to 0.2 to 0.6, and to reduce the vibration by forming the preload in the tilting pad journal bearing and increasing the rigidity of an oil film and attenuation coefficient. A tilting 5 pad journal bearing of a turbine generator for reducing shaft vibration and metal temperature has a tilting pad(1) placed in the tilting pad journal bearing axially or circumferentially. The tilting pad is mounted at the symmetrical place to the load direction of the shaft for pivoting the tilting pad. An inner surface of each tilting pad has a shape bonded with a white metal with a circumferential casting method to protect the shaft. The tilting pad journal bearing is experienced under a preload to increase the rigidity of an oil film and attenuation coefficient and to reduce the vibration so that the range of the preload is 0.2 to 0.6.
