SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING SMS PACKAGE SERVICE IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

A system and a method for providing an SMS package service in a mobile communication network are provided to allow the user to check caller IDs of incoming calls and messages simply which are received while his terminal is in an OFF state. A mobile terminal transmits an SMS package service activation request message to an MSC(Mobile Switching Center)(20) to activate an SMS package service, and is turned off. When an SMS package message is received, the mobile terminal(10) decompresses reception information file included in the SMS package message and displays reception information, which has been generated during the power-off state, on its screen. A package server(40) stores and manages reception information of the mobile terminal(10) in a subscriber information DB(DataBase)(25). When the mobile terminal(10) is turned on to register its location, the package server(40) extracts the reception information from the DB(25), compresses it into a reception information file, creates an SMS package message including the compressed reception information, and transmits it to the mobile terminal(10) via an SMS center(30).
