The device (1) has a stick-shaped handle (3) ergonomically shaped for being used by persons with differently sized hands and accommodating the battery operated electric drive. The massage pad (2) has a slightly concave lower surface (4) in order to create a large contact area when placed on a particular area of the body. The surrounding surface (6) is provided with several curved recesses (7,8) of different dimensions to be placed on more intensely curved parts such as around the vertebrae or at an arm.
