An apparatus for treating pollutants, aerosols and odor-producing materials in ionic wind uses at least one mesh electrode (3a, 3b) to produce plasma (5). The electrodes are mounted in a housing (1) and the ionic wind flows through the space between it and the electrodes. An independent claim is included for treating pollutants, aerosols and odor-producing materials in an ionic wind in which positive or negative pulses are applied to the sides of the electrodes facing the gas channel so that a potential difference is set up which transports the impurities to the surface of the electrodes or casing.
