The method involves checking the availability of a mobile release mechanism within a vehicle, by a driving power system, during the request of a comfort function. The request of the function takes place by the actuation of a control unit. The system provides an enabling signal if the availability of the release mechanism is identified within the vehicle, to the control unit. The control unit then activates the comfort function. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a control unit for the activation of the comfort function (2) a driving power system for activating the comfort function of a vehicle.
