The method involves inserting a fuel nozzle of a petrol pump of a fueling station in a filler neck (1) of a tank of a passenger car. The fuel nozzle is locked after the fuel nozzle is inserted into the filler neck of the tank of the passenger car. The fuel nozzle is unlocked either automatically or by an operator of the fueling station only after a payment for the fuel that is provided to the passenger car. An independent claim is also included for a device for preventing theft of fuel during fueling process at a fueling station.
