Sewing machine (1) comprises electromagnets (3) or electromagnet coils each having an opening (7) in the center acting as a passage or sewing needle channel or tunnel. The sewing needle has ferromagnetic properties and is arranged in the channel of the electromagnets. The electromagnets can be controlled so that the sewing needle is attracted by the electromagnetic force. Preferred Features: The electromagnet is an air-core coil, a superconducting electromagnet or a superconducting coil. The sewing needle has several needle eyes (6) on which several threads (5) can be guided.
