The method is for noise creation in an internal combustion engine which entails controlling by a return valve the volume of exhaust gas which is returned to the induction line. The exhaust gas return valve (10) in its at least partially opened position is set in oscillation at such a frequency that the induction noise inside the induction line (3) is influenced. The exhaust gas return valve is controlled by a control device (11) which is supplied by an accelerator nominal value (12) and operating data (13) of the internal combustion engine and/or motor vehicle.
