A tractor-truck and trailer combination (1) have an obstacle detection system (5) linked to an obstacle position evaluation (10) and reporting unit. The obstacle evaluation unit (10) is programmed, or has an electrical circuit, to classify the obstacles detected (7a, b, 8) as part of the trailer using the information from the detection system (5). The detection system uses e.g. laser or ultrasonic systems.
