Process for production of optical components, especially optical systems in which a glass melt is portioned out and a glass portion is deposited on a levitation cushion located on a levitation base. The viscosity of the glass portion increases during deposition on the surface by cooling to or above the adhesion viscosity and the bulk of the glass portion becomes at least partially below the softening point and is pressed in a mold (blankgepresst, sic). An independent claim is included for a device for production of glass components as described aove.
