The engine has a cam (4), and a cylinder with two inlet valves (2, 3), where one valve (2) has an inlet valve channel that is formed as a tangential channel. Another valve (3) comprises another inlet valve channel formed as a spiral channel. The tangential channel is opened completely and the spiral channel is closed during partial load. The tangential channel is partially opened and the spiral channel is closed between partial and full load. An independent claim is also included for a method for spin control in cylinders of a diesel engine.
