Method involves supplying of strip in unlocked condition on a retainer of closed spreading mechanism. The strip is stretched through opening of spreading mechanism whereby stretched strip is controlled by means of spreading mechanism (10) on the object. The stretched strip is released so that it lies through partial release at an object. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) Device for application of elastically closed strip; and (2) Control unit.
