The injector has a control valve (200) fluidically isolated in a switching position of a supply area (Z) of fluid (300) by a main valve unit (210) in a closing position of a high pressure area (H) of the injector. The valve is fluidically isolated in another switching position of the high pressure area by a control valve unit (220) in a closing position of a dischargeable control chamber (110) of injector, whose fluid pressure acts in a nozzle needle in a closing direction. The units are accommodated on top of each other by an individual actuator unit in their respective closing positions. An independent claim is also included for a method of controlling an injector e.g. pump-nozzle-injector.
