The method involves filling an airbag with more than two different gases, where one of the utilized gases is helium and the other gas is selected from a group of helium, nitrogen and hydrogen. The quantity of the nitrogen, which can be filled in the airbag, is determined in such a manner that the nitrogen proportion in a gas mixture contained in the filled airbag is in the range of five percent to sixteen percent.
