The method involves spraying a mixture of resin and carbon fibre onto at least some parts and section of the bodywork and leaving the mixture to harden in order to increase the load bearing capacity of the body. The spray process is preferably carried out after catalytic immersion painting of the body and a subsequent paint drying step. Heat can be supplied to speed up the hardening process.
