The device (10) has a handle (12) that is encompassable by a hand (18) of a vehicle driver. An actuating unit (22) e.g. force sensor, for actuating a sound generator is placed in proximity of the handle at the device. The actuating unit is placed in an accessible and operable manner under retention of a common grip position of the hand of the driver by thumb (16) of the driver hand. The actuating unit has an adjustable spring unit for adjusting a predetermined threshold. An independent claim is also included for an actuating unit for a sound generator of a vehicle, comprising a spring unit.
