The arrangement has a power controller (3) arranged at output of a switching control evaluating unit (2) and a memory (4) assigned to the controller. The memory has a lastly adjusted illuminating value (Mmem) and a maximum illuminating value (Mmax). The controller is accessed and provided with an operating time of the adjusted illuminating value only during switching of the illuminant. The controller infers the maximum illuminating value from the memory and provides the inferred value via a switching ramp during detection of further operation of a control unit (1) using the evaluating unit.
