The changing table (1) has a fall safety device (9) which, with regard to the changing table, is arranged in such a way that by means of a transfer device (11) it is transferred without human action into the safety position and/or has a tendency to return to the safety position from the neutral position. In the neutral position the safety device can be stowed at least partially beneath the surface (7) of the changing table. The safety device is transferable into the safety position due to gravity force. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a fall safety device for use with a surface of a conventional changing table to produce a changing table according to the invention; and (2) a method for producing a changing table.
