The device has a rectangular base (1) with a platform (2) that receives a nappy-change mat. Two sets of articulated arches (5, 6) delimit a closed volume around a baby, when the arches are in a safety position, where the arches are deployed by using an inner mechanism providing a symmetrical movement of the sets of the arches. The mechanism is actuated by a spring. The mechanism is automatically triggered by an inclination of the platform that rests on a plate which oscillated along a longitudinal horizontal axis. The mechanism is locked by a hand lever (22).
