The chain (1) has an internal combustion engine (2), an automatic control gear (3) and frictional control units (9, 10) arranged between drive gears (6A, 6B) of a vehicle drive axle (6) of a drive side and an axle gear (7). Driving torque with variable distribution degree applied to the vehicle drive axle is distributed between the drive gears. An electrical machine (4) is provided in a power output line between the control gear and the engine such that rotational speed differences between the drive side and the engine are balanced during change of transmission in the control gear. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a drive chain.
