The battery has plate shaped electrodes (2), which are arranged in housing (1) with side walls, and a liquid electrolyte (3) covering the electrodes. A liquid electrolyte rolling over device has flow channel plates arranged parallel to perpendicular edges of the electrodes, and forming left and right sided flow channels (5a, 5b). Electrolyte capture openings (6a, 6b) of the channels lie at a height greater than a gauge height of the electrolyte. Two sections are aligned parallel to a horizontal lower edge of the electrodes, where ends of the sections form a flow opening (8).
