The method involves determining a position of a body part preferably finger, at a small surface display device (1) of a motor vehicle, and graphically representing information (2) depending on the determined position of the body part. The outputted acoustic information coupled over the acoustic output system is changed, represented and outputted, and an approach of the body part to the display device is determined by the determined position. An independent claim is also included for a multimedia device in a motor vehicle.
