Synthetic high-temperature lubricant for chains in film stretching units comprises a synthetic base oil comprising a trimellitate ester, a polyol ester and a complex ester, and an additive package comprising selected corrosion inhibitors and extreme pressure additives, antioxidants, nonferrous metal deactivators and antiwear agents. Synthetic high-temperature lubricant for chains in film stretching units comprises a synthetic base oil comprising a trimellitate ester, a polyol ester and a complex ester, and an additive package comprising selected corrosion inhibitors and extreme pressure (EP) additives, antioxidants, nonferrous metal deactivators and antiwear agents. The corrosion inhibitors are selected from dicarboxylate esters, succinimide semiesters, alkylated succinimide semiesters, succinimide derivatives, alkylated succinimide derivatives, amine-neutralized succinimide derivatives, phosphate esters of alcohols and phenols, organic phosphates, amine-neutralized phosphate esters, naphthenic acids, diamides, fatty acid amides, sulfonic acids, arylsulfonates, imidazoline derivatives, N-oleyl sarcosine and dodecyl monosuccinimide ester, and the EP additives are selected from phosphate esters, organic phosphates, di- and triphosphate esters, dithiophosphate esters, aminophosphate compounds, alkylated dithiocarbamates, methylenebis(dibutyl dithiocarbamate), sulfides, disulfides and imidazoline.
