The method involves placing bottles in a package and straightening flaps (3, 4) when the bottles are placed in the package. The flaps are flapped perpendicular to adjoining walls (1, 2) of the package. A pressure is exerted on adjacent parts of the flaps in a manner to bring together the adjacent parts of the flaps. The walls are maintained in the flapped position when the flaps are arranged between the walls. An independent claim is also included for a cardboard or corrugated cardboard package of implementing a method of packing bottles or oblong containers.
