The device (10) has a reversible electric motor (32) actuating a worm (34) in rotation. A transmission nut (36) integrated to a seat belt fastening system (24) is screwed on the worm and is displaced along the worm when the worm is rotated. A detection unit for looping and detachment of the belt actuates the motor to place the system in a forward position, when the belt is detached, and in an operation position when the belt is looped. Locking units lock and unlock the system when the system reaches the respective positions.
