The device has a compressed felt layer (11), followed by a non-compressed felt layer (12), a fabric layer (13) and a perforated rigid wall (14). The rigid wall is maintained on sides by edges. The compressed felt layer (11) is made at a density comprised between 100 and 300 kilogram per cubic meter and has a thickness comprised between 2 and 15 mm. The felt layer (11) forms a free core which presents a geometry such that portions (L) of a surface of the core are not supported on neighboring layers (12, 12b). The layer (12) is made of recycled fibers e.g. cotton. An independent claim is also included for a method for acoustic treatment of a room.
