The device has a clamp (1) formed of an insulating material and comprising fixed and mobile clamping jaws (2a, 2b) that comprise recesses receiving respective coil elements (9a, 9b), where one coil element is mounted in series with another coil element. A coil is formed around the coil elements, and two handles (5a, 5b) are integrated to the jaws and are articulated with respect to each other around a hinge. Two covers block the coil elements in the recesses, and electrically insulate the coil elements. An independent claim is also included for a method for fabricating a device for measuring alternating current in a conductor such as electric circuit, traversed by electric current.
