A plant for treating industrial effluents, consisting of a solvent and pollutant(s), comprises a closed cylindrical reactor (2) rotating about its horizontal axis (4), into which the effluent is injected. The reactor is depressurized and heated (7) from the exterior. Solvent evaporated in the reactor is condensed, and the concentrated decanted pollutant in the reactor is recovered. Various parameters are automated. A plant for treating industrial effluents, consisting of a solvent and pollutant(s), comprises a closed reactor (2), having cylindrical wall(s) (3) with inner and outer surfaces (3a, 3b) and rotating about its horizontal axis (4), into which the effluent is injected. The reactor is depressurized and the outer wall surface is heated (7) to cause heating of the inner wall. Solvent evaporated in the reactor is condensed, and the concentrated decanted pollutant in the reactor is recovered. Various parameters (e.g. time and speed of rotation, effluent flow rate, temperature and pressure) are automated. Independent claims are included for: (1) a modular assembly, comprising at least one plant as above and device(s) for (i) adjusting pH upstream by neutralization (in the case of aqueous effluents), (ii) pretreating the effluent upstream to retain solid particles, (iii) post-treating the extracted solvent downstream to retain entrained pollutant molecules, (iv) post-treating the condensed solvent in series with (c) to recover non-extracted molecules and/or (v) recovering heat the preheat the effluent before injection into the reactor; and (2) a treatment process using the plant, involving (a) injecting the effluent into the reactor (2), (b) rotating the reactor about its horizontal axis, at sufficient speed to form a thin layer of effluent on the interior wall, (c) depressurizing the reactor, (d) heating the interior wall surface to evaporate the solvent in the thin layer and give a concentrate containing the pollutant(s), (e) evaporating the solvent recovered in the interior of the reactor and (f) recovering the concentrate from the reactor.
