PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for retrieving a wireless LAN terminal device with excellent compatibility so as to efficiently retrieve a closest terminal device from among a plurality of terminal devices with smaller power consumption, a method of retrieving a wireless LAN terminal device by which the closest terminal device can be efficiently retrieved from among a plurality of terminal devices, and a program for retrieving the wireless LAN terminal device.;SOLUTION: A PC 50 broadcasts a probe request for retrieving a terminal device with a minimum setting value of the electric field strength of the wireless communication of a PC communication section 51 and if there is no response signal from a novel terminal device or no response signal comes, the probe request is broadcasted again after increasing the setting value of the electric field strength by one stage. The PC 50 retrieves a connectable terminal device while widening a probe request delivery range step by step. A terminal device makes a response when the probe request reaches it. Therefore, as the probe request delivery range becomes wider step by step, responses come in the order of terminal devices closer to the PC 50.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
