PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide adaptable model-based control system and method for controlling a gas turbine engine.;SOLUTION: The system and the method are provided for initializing dynamic model states using a Kalman or similar type filter. The control method comprises steps of: obtaining dynamic-type information (Y) associated with a current state of the engine (110); initializing an engine model (130) with at least a portion of the dynamic-type information (Y), wherein at least one value based at least in part on the dynamic-type information (Y) is inputted to the engine model (130); based at least in part on the at least one value, determining the current state of the engine (110) from the model (130); based at least in part on the state of the engine (110), determining an engine control action; and outputting a control command (U) for implementing the engine control action.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
