PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device capable of improving accuracy in categorizing image defects, and to provide an image processing program, malfunction diagnosing device, and malfunction diagnosing program. PSOLUTION: A primary test chart is output (step 100), and an image defect area of the read primary test chart image is detected (step 104). The color component of an arising image defect and the type of the defect are categorized (step 106). If the color component and the type cannot be specified (No, in step 110), the degree of similarity of the defect that cannot be specified is calculated (step 114). Based on the degree of similarity, parameters are altered (step 106). Then, a secondary test chart determined based on the altered parameter is output (step 120), and the color component of an image defect arising in the secondary test chart and the type of the defect are categorized (step 126).
