PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode of a green compact, which is used in submerged electrospark machining, can efficiently make a thick film formed through the submerged electrospark machining and inexpensively form an abrasion resistant film that can be applied to a severe service condition; a method for manufacturing the same; and a method for forming a hard film by using the electrode.;SOLUTION: The electrode (10) of the green compact has a first part (11) and a second part (12) which face to the surface to be treated and are placed adjacently. The first part includes a carbide-forming metal that reacts with an organic liquid and thereby can form a carbide, and a binder metal that is easy to be fused with a metal member to be treated, which uniformly coexist. The second part is made from only the binder metal. The method for forming the hard film includes making the electrode of the green compact approach the surface to be treated of the metal member which is immersed in the organic liquid, rotating the electrode while making the electrode electrically discharge in the liquid, making the first part and the second part alternately face to the surface to be treated, so that components including carbides and the binder metal which does not include carbides are alternately transferred to the surface to be treated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
