PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phenol resin used for a wet type paper frictional material capable of obtaining a formed material having excellent characteristics of the phenol resin such as heat resistance, strength, etc., and excellent also in flexibility, and the wet type paper frictional material.;SOLUTION: This phenol resin composition characterized by being constituted by an epoxidized plant oil-modified phenol resin is provided with that the epoxidized plant oil is preferably ≥1 kind selected from epoxidized soybean oil, epoxidized linseed oil, epoxidized tung oil, epoxidized castor oil and epoxidized palm oil. Also, the phenol resin composition has preferably 2 to 60 wt.% ratio of the epoxidized plant oil based on the whole solid content of the composition.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
