PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to perform high-speed charging and discharging with little gas generation at initial charging and discharging. PSOLUTION: The carbon material for a lithium-ion secondary battery anode, obtained by carbonizing a pressure molded body obtained from a composition blending and kneading a binder with a carbonaceous aggregate, and then, putting an artificial graphite block obtained by graphitizing the above under pulverization and grain refining, shows characteristics of: R value=(ISB1360/SB/ISB1580/SB)0.2 as defined in a ratio of a D band and a G band, in the Raman spectrum using Nd:YAG laser light of a wavelength of 532 nm, and d(002)0.336nm, as well as, Lc(002)50nm, in a crystallographic parameter calculated by the Japan Society For the Promotion of Science.
