PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems, in a spontaneous light display device, that in the case of the conventional method, there is a need for continuously monitoring the deterioration state of each pixel, and when a screen size is upsized, the amount of operations and scale are upsized.;SOLUTION: The device comprising (a) an illuminance sensor which detects the brightness of external light incident on the periphery of as display screen, and (b) a contrast controller which controls the driving conditions of a display device according to the detected brightness or subjects the video signal to gray scale conversion and subjects the contrast ratio of display luminance to infinite or stepwise reduction control is proposed as the image persistence suppression device.
