Suppression of ghost images and side lobes in acousto-optic devices

Abstract: An analysis to estimate the effect of transducerapodization and discontinuities in acousto-opticdevices is presented. Theoretical and experimentalresults show that a transducer sectioned with obliquecuts does not increase side-lobe levels while cutsnormal to the optical propagation direction produceobjectionable side-lobes far from the central peak. !4
