PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil temperature estimation device, and an oil temperature estimation method, which estimates the oil temperature of engine oil in accordance with engine operation states, and provides an oil temperature estimation value lower than actual oil temperature.;SOLUTION: The oil temperature estimation device for estimation of engine oil temperature is provided with: a cooling water temperature detection means 19 to detect temperature of cooling water to cool an engine 10; an outside air temperature detection means 51 to detect temperature of outside air; and an oil temperature selecting means (step S14) to select the larger one of a first selection value (step S10) in which a specified value is subtracted from the detected cooling water temperature, and a second selection value (step S11) set based on the outside air temperature.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
