PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin film magnetic head capable of highly accurately performing writing of a data signal in a magnetic recording medium having high coercive force without performing heating and achieving compactness and low costs.;SOLUTION: In the thin film magnetic head provided with an electromagnetic coil element provided with a main magnetic pole wherein a writing magnetic field is generated when the data signal is written, an auxiliary magnetic pole whose portion separated from an end part on the side opposed to the medium is magnetically connected to the main magnetic pole and a writing coil for generating the writing magnetic field formed so as to pass between at least the main magnetic pole and the auxiliary magnetic pole, a part of the writing coil has a layered structure wherein a resonance coil layer for generating a magnetic field for resonance having a ferromagnetic resonance frequency of a magnetic recording layer of the magnetic recording medium or a frequency in the vicinity of the ferromagnetic resonance frequency and a writing coil layer are layered sandwiching an insulating layer.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
