PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for unwinding and guiding a steel strip capable of preventing the occurrence of the damage of a belt in an apparatus for guiding a steel strip, which is equipped with a magnet type belt conveyor for guiding a steel strip to a pinch roll from a steel strip coil, due to collison or bit of the tip or the tail end of the steel strip to the belt, and capable of stably maintaining a function of guiding the steel strip.;SOLUTION: A belt conveyor 3 is turnable about a supporting shaft 91. In the conveyor 3, the inclined surface rear end thereof has an apron 5 projecting on the belt surface at the front, and both right and left sides thereof have side guide members 7, 7. The belt conveyor 3 has such a lifting structure that the side guide members 7, 7 are lifted at a higher position than the belt surface in a state of being turned to a standby position P2, while being lowered at a lower position than the belt surface in a state of being turned to a tip of the steel strip guiding position P1. The apron 5 prevents the tip of the steel strip unwinding from a coil SC from colliding with the belt 31, the tail end of the steel strip is loaded at a position above the belt surface of the side guide members 7, 7, thereby preventing the tail end part from hitting to the belt 31 as well.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
