PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably lift/lower a table to be lifted/lowered.;SOLUTION: This lifting and lowering apparatus 1 for superposing and mounting a substrate positions a substrate table, on which the substrate to be printed is supported, below a metal mask, and lifts/lowers the substrate table from/to that state, so as to superpose and mount the substrate on the undersurface of the metal mask or isolates the substrate from the undersurface. The lifting and lowering apparatus 1 comprises: a base plate which is positioned below the substrate table so as to support it; a bearing device 20 having a rolling element 27 interposed and inserted between inner and outer rings 25 and 21; a ball nut 50 attached to the base plate while being borne by the bearing device 20; and a ball screw shaft 60 fixed to the substrate table in the state of being prevented from rotating with respect to it, and screwed into the ball nut 50.
