PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance security of medical information on medical care such as a patient's medical chart or a prescription, and provide an information system for a medical institution in which an error in medical information such as a patient's medical chart and response to a patient is unlikely to occur. PSOLUTION: When a patient registration card with an embedded IC chip is brought close to a reader/writer 13b of a reception machine 13 installed in a hospital 1, the patient registration card number stored in the IC chip is read out. If the fingerprint data corresponding to the patient registration card number stored in a patient database 110 matches the fingerprint data outputted from a fingerprint reader 13c, the medical chart information corresponding to the patient registration card number is read from the medical chart database 112, shown in a display 13a, and transmitted to a PC 12b installed in an examination room B.
