PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a phase difference control member, in which the possibility that the identification of an alignment mark becomes difficult is eliminated when a liquid crystal material for forming a phase different layer by a die coat method is applied onto a base material.;SOLUTION: The phase difference control member 1 is formed by laminating the phase difference layer 4 containing a liquid crystal molecule on a light transmissive base material 2. The phase different layer 4 is formed by applying the liquid crystal material containing the liquid crystal molecule to be contained in the phase difference layer 4 by the die coat method to form the liquid crystal coating film and homeotropically orienting the liquid crystal molecule contained in the liquid crystal coating film to be fixed. The alignment mark 5 designating a position of reference by which the position of the phase difference layer 4 in the in-plane direction is fixed is arranged ≥2 mm inside from the end edge position of the liquid crystal coating film between the base material 2 and the phase difference layer 4.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
